what I want to remember.

Had my first false alarm this Christmas. After a lovely night of seeing "Saving Mr. Banks" with friends, I was noticing all sorts of changes in my body. I was so uncomfortable I just had to put myself to sleep. I woke up at 3 with more painful contractions than I'd ever had. They were 3-10 minutes apart for a couple hours. So I got up and ate, and got some stuff together, horrified at the state of my house after the Christmas bomb had gone off. And by the time that was done, my contractions had slowed down. So I layed back down for a bit, thinking if they were still going a half hour later I'd wake Addison up, and I fell asleep! Whew. I was not expecting a 2013 baby! Needless to say, the next morning was spent doing baby laundry, packing the official hospital bag, filling up our cars (which were both on empty) and cleaning like crazy. Haha, I thought I was so ready! While I thought I would welcome with open arms having the baby almost 4 weeks early, I got so nervous. As I sat there for hours contemplating if my life was going to change forever in the next few hours, I thought about all the things I want to remember about these last few days before baby.

The things I want to remember about these last few weeks are our anniversary weekend, setting up our first, live beloved Christmas tree, blowing up our air mattress to watch "Muppets Christmas Carol" while snacking on popcorn and Dr. Pepper on Christmas Eve, FaceTiming our family for Christmas but being completely fulfilled knowing Addison is here, having "Florida family" brunch Christmas Day, late night conversations in bed, long walks around the apartment buildings talking about our future adventures, laughing with Addison, spontaneous dances in the kitchen, Addison's willingness to help me with anything so I can put my feet up from a long days work, snapchats from Addison at work, always working on a new art project, talking to my mom for hours on end, having Addison help me prepare the perfect Sunday School lesson, counting down the last few days of wearing my attendant costume, staring at my belly for hours trying to imagine what features will be mine and what will be Addison's, imagining kissing little toes, squeezing little thighs, snuggling a little person on my chest...sigh.

Then I'm right back getting all excited for our little guy. But I will truly cherish these last few days. I hope to not loose sight of the simple little pleasures that Addison and I enjoy. It doesn't take much to keep us happy, and I am so grateful for the couple that we have fought to be. We are truly so in love.

baby welch: 36 week progress shot.

Merry Christmas Eve! I am officially 36 weeks pregnant and ready as ever for this baby to come! This week we made up the hospital bag, got a pack n play/changing table, deep cleaned our apartment, and installed the car seat. I think we are as ready as we possibly can be. I had a friend that was due after me give birth 6 weeks early with no signs or indications of preterm labor. So I thought I better get my butt in gear just in case-watch now I'm gonna go two weeks over...sigh.

But! I did go to my 36 week appointment yesterday, and all is well! The nurse that measured my belly said, "woah, your belly is so hard compared to your last appointment, have you been having contractions?" Yes. Tons! And when the doctor checked my cervix, he was in shock! Kept saying, "well, the baby is RIGHT HERE." He said he had definitely dropped, was head down, and that he was not budging anywhere. Here's to having a cone headed baby! Haha! But that would explain why my hydronephrosis kidney pain has all but disappeared in the last few weeks. I am SO GRATEFUL for this. I feel like the "springtime of pregnancy" I was supposed to have in my second trimester is finally here. It's such a relief to be able to sleep on both sides, and sit for long periods of time without that severe pain.

Speaking of sleep, Addison has picked up this really odd habit of using my belly as a pillow in the middle of the night. I am not quite sure how it happens, but all the sudden, he is all cuddled up on my belly. When I push him off, he is not so happy about it. Also, Addison tells me I began to snore this week :( I have never known myself to snore! I am so sorry Addi! I guess my lungs are not what they used to be? And I go to bed EXHAUSTED every night.

I am still working, which is a struggle, but I'm glad I'm not just sitting at home. My feet are swelling more and more everyday, and I can totally see it in my face. I had to take off my wedding ring this week for fear of having to get it sawed off...but I'm grateful the swelling just began. My hips are cracking all the time. Also, I feel like because I can't pick thigs up very well, I drop EVERYTHING! It's really frustrating. Addison has to tie up my boots...and after what my feet looked like coming out of those boots yesterday, I think they are gonna stay in my closet till after pregnancy.

I am so happy about my progress! I am not dilated at all, but things are coming along. And I can tell that my body is making changes everyday to make sure I am ready for this.

I can tell Addison is so excited. He has made all sorts of preparations at work to make sure he can leave at the drop of a hat. He doesn't want to miss a thing. He was on his hands and knees, scrubbing anything I mentioned so we can bring our sweet little guy into our home and feel comfortable. I truly am in love with a wonderful guy!

a baby shower.

I have such sweet friends here in Florida. We had a small gathering of some close friends who showered me with gifts :) what sweet people!

I felt so loved! And I can't wait to spend Christmas with these guys. So wonderful to have a second family here :) now I wouldn't complain if I got a son for Christmas too! We have some simple plans for the holidays, but mostly we are looking forward to no work and relaxing together. The space under our Christmas tree is absolutely covered in presents. We are looking forward to FaceTimeing with family, delicious food, and sleeping in!

addison the great.

my husband is so talented. now, what is so amazing, is my husband has talents that no one else has. he baffles me. this year, he was contacted by several people, ordering nativities. he is a sculpter, and has, in the past, created very unique looking elf-people and fantasy type creatures. however, he received an order a few months ago that forced him to go into a totally different direction. he was asked to sculpt dolls to be used in a dance performance of the Nutcracker. these were so out of his element! but they turned out gorgeous. so when i saw what he produced for these nativities, i saw that his style had shifted a bit, and he has grown so much! upon receiving these nativities, their owners cried! they have a definite beauty and spirituality about them, and it makes me so proud of my husband.
I almost wouldn't let him send this last one! it's my favorite one he has ever done.
but alas, i guess i have to spread the love.

I even got to hep out with some of the dressing and props this year. it was awesome.
thanks Addi :)
you truly are a gem.

happy anniversary to us!

we celebrated our 3 year anniversary last night. we took 3 days off of work, and decided to play! we started off the day baby shopping! we got all the essentials for the first little bit at least. we feel so much more prepared. we then checked into our hotel at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. Addison felt right at home. (He served his mission in Louisiana) We loved our Tiana-themed room. Princess and the Frog has always been one of our favorites!
We felt just like Scarlett O'Hara. In fact, we almost tore our curtains down and made a dress to walk down these steps with...don't worry, we didn't.

Last night we made it over to Boma, an African Buffet at the Animal Kingdom Resort, and we were in heaven. My favorite was the chicken corn chowder and sausage quiche. Addison looooved the salmon and pumpkin cheesecake. We walked around that incredible resort too, and were just in awe. What a cool place. Don't worry, I took an annoying amount of pictures. Addison should have been embarrassed, but he wasn't :)
Zebra cakes, strawberry mint tarts, pumpkin cheesecakes, apple crisp!
Our sweet server brought us these delicious truffles for our Anniversary!
 Sausage quiche...my favorite ;)
 Hummus and pita chips.
Addison dancing to the live drums!
 The lobby was GORGEOUS.
This book was too true not to take a picture of.
Love you honey! Thank you for the unforgettable Anniversary!

a very merry Christmas party.

our Anniversary weekend has officially begun! we started festivities off with Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom. we both had never been, and we were like little kids...waddling around the park-at least for me!
Best part of the night-free hot cocoa and cookies, never ending :)
also...it is really sad how many people don't know how to use cameras...or what "try and get the whole castle in the picture" means. we tried several different people-this was our best shot...oh well!
Yes, we saw ALL 7 DWARVES! It was awesome. Also, notice how even on Addisons' knees he is still blocking Sleepy....
I rode Dumbo for the 1st time ever! It was totally magical.
We thought we better stop in and wish Mickey a very merry Christmas and thank him for his wonderful party. He told us that he and Jack Sparrow made cookies that day, and then said, "where does a pirate keep his cookies?-a jarrrrrrrr!" We laughed. So cute.
Then we decided to be pirates for this picture :)

We had so much fun. the parade, fireworks, hot chocolate, castle show, and characters were highlights. Also, we sat in the front row of Pirates of the Caribbean and that was awesome. We also were genuinely cold for most of the night, and it felt SO GOOOOOD! Perfect night to go the party.

can't wait for the festivities to continue today!
Happy Anni my sweet Addi! we look like we are in for an adventure in this picture, which is why it's one of my favorites :) i love you so much! I can't wait for our biggest adventure of all! (5 1/2 weeks and counting!)
