moving day.

Well, it has been one of those days...moving days. Whew! We've had an exhausting but very rewarding day! It's been kind of surreal to tell the truth. To think that all these brand new wedding presents are actually ours, that we own our own furniture, and that, yes, I'll actually have to cook every once in a while ;) We've had our first dinner on our beautiful paisley plates, tried out our new shower, and are now all set up to make some birds whilst watching, "Roman Holiday". Needless to say, we are loving it.
Thank you in-laws and brothers! We couldn't have done it without you.

the newest member of our family was born Tuesday :)
he weighed 7lb 10 oz and is and calm and cute as can be!
welcome to the family Roman.
we're already praying that you don't get beat up by the older niblings.
at least little Roman might keep Landon's cravings at bay for a nephew of his own!

Nibling moment.

So my nephew harrison (2) is already a fanatic about Disneyland. Yesterday, my brother (Harrys dad) told him his exciting news. It went something like this:

Dad: "guess what Harry? I just booked our tickets to Disneyland!"
(harry twists his face in confusion)
Harry: " took my book to Disneyland? Why you do this? Why you take my book to Disneyland?"

Gotta love em!

what can I say? It's been a crazy July. After a lovely and relaxing week in Bear Lake I went back to work for 2 days and bam, was right back on the road again. We did a special trip to West Yellowstone where Add had spent a very memorable summer a couple years ago working for the Playmill Theatre. We saw a couple shows, saw Old Faithful, and made good use of the rad water slide at our hotel. Upon returning I've spent a few days in Heber with my mom and dad.

There's something about Heber. I grew up in Park City, but my parents moved here the summer I graduated. I've spent a few Christmases and one summer here and I love it. Nothing beats taking a summer walk at dusk here and just getting away from the hustle & bustle.

When we moved from my childhood home to Heber I packed up my boxes and then packed a bag to take to my summer semester at BYU Hawaii. Some of those boxes had remained packed...until yesterday. Let me tell you, saying it was a trip down memory lane would be an understatement. You might say I was a borderline hoarder. I used to collect everything! From keys, to Olymipic buttons, to newspaper clippings about anything Harry Potter. It was so odd, yet so fulfilling to de-clutter.

Very bittersweet to be moving into a new place. So exciting to have our own space and be so close to school! Harder to be away from Grandparents. Love getting to take my stuff to create a new space, hard to take it away from mom & dad's and know for sure you don't have a room here anymore. Ha, I guess everyone goes through this after marriage, and it's not like I'd approve of the alternative to leave it here and try to hold on to my childhood! But it's just a weird stage. So much reflection on who you used to be and what parts of childhood you want to take with you and pass on. (I did leave a few things here on purpose...shhhh! I was never the best at the whole "ripping-the-bandaid" off thing.)

a couple pictures i love:
Old Faithful.
Gramma & Grampa/bear lake.

the resort.

One of the highlights of summer for the Welch's is pool days at the Morley's.
We all like to joke that at their house it's like going to a resort for the day, but it really is true and once you see these pictures, I'm sure you will agree :)
SCONES!! No one makes scones like gramma Sheri. This year she made 300 and they were gone by 2:00 PM
The Cole cousins!
Sister Laila, struttin her stuff.
We had a perfect 4th of July! Swim day, quite bbq at the Welchs, and magical fireworks.
We're in Bear Lake this week! Happy Harry Pottering to all!

july adventures.

When I first started blogging, I made myself a promise that sitting down to blog would never take away from experiencing something better in that moment.
Well that came into play majorly these past couple weeks. We've been having the perfect July filled with family, fireworks, reunions, lakes, barbeques, cabins, baby SHOWERS, niblings, games, swimming, and lots of driving.
Here are some pics of the last weeks:
Sister, Kirsten's shower; she's got about 1 month left! It's been showers galore and VERY swollen feet.
 The Briggs' Family Reunion!
We started off with a bang, floating down the Provo River and a bbq.
The next morning we started off with a warm-up hike to the "giant's mables" (aka: "giant's marcols" as my nephew Harry calls them). It's a hike up in Midway where a glacier has brought TONS of enormous rocks down the mountain and it looks like a giant is playing marbles.
Next up, we played the EPIC Amazing Race: Heber Edition.
The first leg of the race started with minute-to-win-it games. The challenge? Slide an Oreo cookie down your face and into your mouth. Hilarious.
 We ran a team 5K.
Even Harry wanted to run!
The best part of the race was stopping at the Midway Creamery.
Top of Memorial Hill in Midway.
Our last stop was at the Holiday Lanes bowling alley, where our mission was to eat a burger and fries. Perfect.
Yeah, my nephew has a mullet.
My mom with Phyllis, the millionaire owner of the bowling alley.
Back at the cabin. Lucy and grammpa.
We had a lovely weekend, and the party hasn't stopped since!
So on top of work, reunions, sculpting, plasma donating, car detailing...we are also slowly moving into our apartment in Ogden, and probably getting way too into decorating and playing house.
What an exciting time :)
